Cycling in Somerset

Somerset is a great county for cyclists of all abilities. If you are not bringing your own bike then most tourist informations centres will have contact details for local cycle hire companies. For some gentle cycling in Somerset the flat landscape of the Levels make for a less strenuous ride. The landscape is criss-crossed with small dykes or "rhynes" and there are many picturesque towns and villages to visit along the way. For those wanting more of a challenge, there are the Mendips near Wells and Cheddar or the Quantocks north of Bridgwater, or you may prefer the wild landscape of Exmoor. Cycling in Somerset is a great way to appreciate the diverse scenery of this varied county.
