Description

Handley Farm offers top quality 4 star rated self catering cottages and 5 star gold award bed and breakfast accommodation set in beautiful countryside on the Devon/Somerset border, close to Exmoor National Park.

Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Handley Farm is no ordinary B&B establishment. Owner Linda have created three carefully designed bed and breakfast suites from original stone barns, which are separate from the farmhouse. These luxurious ground floor suites provide superbly comfortable, well-equipped accommodation, giving guests the level of comfort and personal attention expected from a first class hotel, but with a lot more freedom, independence, and privacy.

Each suite is individually designed, with a comfortable sitting area, ensuite bathroom, and bedroom area. The soft furnishings are beautifully co-ordinated, with careful attention given to the smallest detail to create guestsuites that are truly unique. Breakfast is served in the dining room of the centuries-old farmhouse, and guests are then free to spend the day as they please, either enjoying the comfort of their luxurious suites, or exploring the area.

Self Catering Accommodation

There are two self-catering cottages: Handley Cottage, sleeping 2 to 4 people, and the Cider Barn for 2 to 6 people. Both cottages are full of character, and offer extremely comfortable and well-equipped self catering accommodation. Each cottage has its own garden with garden furniture and a barbecue.

Handley Cottage
Handley Cottage sleeps 2 to 4 people in a self-contained wing of the lovely old farmhouse. The entrance porch leads into a hallway; sitting room with feature fireplace, woodburner and cottage suite. The kitchen/diner and cloakroom (shower) are off the hall. Upstairs, are 2 bedrooms (one double, one twin) and bathroom with bath, washbasin & W.C. Outside is a pretty little South facing garden with tables & chairs and a barbecue is available.

The Cider Barn
The Cider Barn is extremely spacious, sleeps 2 to 6 people in comfort. As you step inside, there is a beautifully appointed open plan kitchen, which has wonderful far reaching views; sitting room with exposed beams and log burner; 2 ground floor bedrooms (one with 4 poster, double bed and a twin bedroom with W.C. and wash basin). A second twin room is the only upstairs room; ground floor bathroom with bath, separate shower, washbasin & W.C. A door opens onto the South facing patio with garden furniture and its own large, private garden. A barbecue is available.

Additional Facilities

The bed and breakfast suites and the self catering cottages are all set in the pretty south facing courtyard, and there is also a play area for children close by. There is a games barn with table tennis, pool table and darts, fully central heated for when the weather is less than perfect!

Walkers will enjoy exploring the many peaceful lanes and quiet footpaths around Handley Farm, or you can stroll down to our well-stocked coarse fishing lakes (exclusively for guests’use), where you will find a variety of wildlife.

Local Area

Handley Farm is ideally situated for exploring Exmoor National Park and the vale of Taunton Deane. The spectacularly rugged north coast of Devon and the coastal resorts of Lynmouth, with its cliff railway, Combe Martin, and Ilfracombe are within easy reach. Woolacombe has a wonderful stretch of wide sandy beach and is a good place for surfing. The sandy beaches of the south coast resorts of Exmouth, Sidmouth and Seaton offer good safe beaches for families and are all less than an hour’s drive away. The National Trust has several houses and gardens in the area worth visiting, including Killerton, Knightshayes, and Arlington Court.

Handley Farm is close to Wimbleball Lake, where you can go fishing or sailing, and there are numerous waymarked walks around the lake.
