Description

The Old House in Nether Stowey is the ideal location for a relaxing bed and breakfast or self catering holiday in one of our three beautiful somerset cottages. The Old House is situated in the charming village of Nether Stowey which nestles on the edge of the Quantock Hills.

Samual Coleridge
It was this area of Somerset that provided inspiration for the poet Samuel Coleridge and his great friends the Wordsworths.

Records confirm that Coleridge actually stayed in The Old House in what is now our Coleridge Bed and Breakfast Suite. Prior to this the stayed in the first home of Thomas Poole where he enjoyed the beauty of the countryside on long walks over the hills with his great friend William Wordsworth to Porlock, nowadays a popular route enjoyed by many visitors to the area. In recent years the well trodden Coleridge Way has become one of the most popular 2 -3 day walks in the country.

The Quantock Hills were the first to be designated as an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' and being only four miles from the Jurassic coast many other beautiful walks can be enjoyed.

Bed and Breakfast
For those looking for a delightful bed and breakfast break in the Quantocks then our Coleridge suite is for you. The elegantly decorated interior and gracious furnishings have delighted all of our our guests in this grade 11 listed, Visit Britain 4* Silver Award accommodation.
