Nestled at the bottom of Cadbury Castle (one of the sites believed to be King Arthur’s Camelot), The Camelot pub also offers flagstone floors, wood burning fires and a large beer garden, making it an ideal place to relax in all seasons.Alex and Dave Catton took over The Camelot in July 2007 looking to offer a traditional pub atmosphere by focussing on a warm welcome, real ales, fine wine and a high quality, home cooked menu sourced from local produce.
The picturesque scenery that makes up the village of South Cadbury provides a beautiful setting for this pub with traditional values at its heart and attracts locals and visitors alike.
Steeped in Arthurian folklore we also have a small museum containing information & artefacts collected from the archaeological dig that took place in the late 60’s and early 70’s by Sir Francis Mortimer Wheeler.
We have a large collection of pictures by local artist Jane Brain depicting scenes of the construction of the defences on the Hill fort among others, also original costume drawings of characters portrayed in the Hollywood film ‘King Arthur’.
We have a regularly used skittle alley that can double as a function room for parties of up to 70 people. We also offer Hog and Lamb Roasts for functions, either at the pub or off site.
Visitors to the area can take advantage of nearby tourist attractions such as the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton as well as several National Trust properties.
We have regular events at the pub to welcome new people to the pub and help build on the community spirit of the village; comedy nights; Pizza & Pasta nights; BBQ evenings in the Summer; monthly live music and quiz nights.
